There is only one sense in which a man can be a Christian. This is the inner sense, which for this very reason works at the same time upon all that is external. One can be a Christian only when he has experienced within his own heart the decisive word about Christ’s nearness.

We shall find that Jesus Christ is the same in times gone by, in modern times, and in the time to come of his future kingdom. We shall find that he is the same for all, that he has the same will, the same way, the same truth and the same love, for all. And we shall learn that the voice of the Holy Spirit says the same in us all.

The light of Jesus Christ is the new life of perfect unity. Everything that is without community and opposed to community is darkness and coldness; it is turned away from the glowing light of Jesus.
